Terms of Service & Disclaimer
Aurora is a media catalog browser. It is not a streaming service. Aurora does not host, store, distribute, transmit, scrape, index, or otherwise provide any movie or TV episode files. Everything you see comes from third-party addons that you choose to install. By using Aurora, you accept the responsibilities outlined below.
1. What Aurora Is
Aurora is a free, community-oriented media catalog application for iPhone and iPad. It displays metadata — titles, posters, synopses, ratings, release dates — for movies and TV series. Aurora is built and maintained by a single independent developer (@0Swanky) and offered free of charge as a personal/community project.
2. What Aurora Is NOT
Aurora is not a streaming service, content provider, file-sharing app, or media distribution platform. Aurora:
- Does not host, store, distribute, or transmit any movie, TV episode, or other media file.
- Does not operate any servers, databases, or storage for media content.
- Does not own, license, or have rights to any of the content whose metadata it displays.
- Does not scrape, index, or aggregate content from any source on behalf of the user.
3. About Addons
Aurora supports community-built addons that the user chooses to install. An addon is a third-party plugin operated by parties unaffiliated with Aurora or its developer. Aurora has no relationship with, control over, or responsibility for any addon, its operator, or the data it returns. The metadata, links, references, or any other data shown to you originates entirely from the addons you have installed and is fetched directly from those addons' own sources, which Aurora cannot inspect, audit, or verify.
By installing an addon, you enter into your own arrangement (express or implied) with that addon's provider. Aurora is not a party to that arrangement.
4. Your Responsibilities
By installing or using Aurora you agree that:
- You are solely responsible for which addons you choose to install in Aurora.
- You are solely responsible for ensuring that anything you view, download, stream, or otherwise access through any addon complies with the copyright laws, content laws, and other applicable laws of the jurisdiction in which you are located.
- You will not use Aurora or any addon to infringe copyright, distribute prohibited material, or violate any law or third-party right.
- You are 18 years of age or older, or you are using Aurora under the supervision of a parent or legal guardian who has accepted these Terms on your behalf.
5. No Affiliation, No Endorsement
Aurora is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or in any partnership with Apple Inc., Netflix, Amazon, Disney, Warner Bros., Paramount, or any other film studio, TV network, streaming service, addon developer, or content provider. All trademarks, service marks, and trade names referenced in Aurora belong to their respective owners and are used solely for descriptive or identification purposes.
6. No Warranty
Aurora is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE", without warranty of any kind, express or implied — including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, or that the app will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free. The developer does not warrant that any addon will function, be safe, or be lawful in any jurisdiction.
7. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall the developer of Aurora (@0Swanky) be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages arising out of or in connection with your use of Aurora, any addon, or any content returned by any addon — including but not limited to claims for loss of data, loss of profits, business interruption, personal injury, or any legal action arising from your own use of the app or any addon.
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless the developer from any claim, demand, loss, or expense (including legal fees) arising out of or related to your use of Aurora or any addon you install.
8. Changes to These Terms
These Terms may be updated from time to time. Material changes will be communicated on aurorapp.io and, where appropriate, in the app itself. Continued use of Aurora after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
